Turning Point

Turning Point

Turning Point

I turn away from childish things –
of fairy-tales and puppy dog wings.

Of holding on to a dream long gone,
or a hope that vanished when I was young.

I turn away from a plan awry
No longer afraid, not needing to try

To be phony, perfect, quiet or nice
Authentic and honest will now suffice

To help me turn around and see
The world is open and now about me

In ways to serve, to laugh, to heal
Sometimes painful, always real.

Grateful for all the ways I tried
For now I know I needn’t have lied

To myself in ways that kept me bound
To thoughts that tied me to the ground

Away I fly to sites unknown
And I can do it on my own

The Turning Point has come and gone
And unafraid, I carry on.

Relieved, unburdened, expansive, healed
Trajectory new, yet not concealed

Just waiting for me to quiet my mind
As my heart reveals the treasures I’ll find.

With my thanks, and my trust, and my faith and my love.
I listen each moment for guidance above.

Turning in, turning toward, tuning in, turning to,
The closer I get to me, I find You.

Table in the Sky

Table in the Sky

(sung to the “tune” of “Spirit in the Sky” – lyrics below)

I’ve been blessed with a Table in the Sky
It is where I’ll go when I die.
All the people I love will be there
As I pull up my own comfy chair.

I’ve been blessed with a Table in the Sky
Though I’ve never been quite sure why
All I know is that when I go
I’ll reunite with the ones whom I loved so

First I lost my Papa, who went there alone
But I talked to him nightly.
Later Baba joined him, and Ruthie much too soon
But I could see them sitting just behind the moon.

Aunt Fay didn’t help cook, but she was out of pain
And glad to be with her parents
Annie finally joined her dear beloved Ruth
And was happy again, that’s the truth.

I’ve been blessed with a Table in the Sky
It’s what I think of when I want to cry.
They’re all waiting for us patiently
To come join our beloved family.

Naomi left too soon, but within weeks so did Dad
And the gin games began at the Table
He was free to play and eat with constant glee
Hs could devour all the sugar he was able.

And all the time, they looked down on us all
Sending love and guidance when we heard their call
We would miss them here, but they were always near
To help pick us up each time we’d fall.

I’ve been blessed with a Table in the Sky
It’s what I think of when I want to cry.
They’re all waiting for us patiently
To come join our beloved family.

Dave left one gin game to go to another
Mike later joined his other brothers
Milly out of pain joined her favorite mate
And the table would all celebrate

We all have a Table in the Sky
To turn to look toward when we die
To know that we will never be alone
For to die will be just like going home.

We will sit at our Table in the Sky
Joined by loved ones, so please don’t cry
Just remember that when you have to go
You’ll be welcomed by all who love you so.

We will miss you when you’re gone
But we know that you’ll live on
And we’ll know when our time is due
We’ll be right at that Table next to you.

We’ll be right at that Table next to you.
We’ll be together at that Table next to YOU.

Lyrics to the song “Spirit in the Sky” (by Norman Greenbaum)

When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that’s the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin’ up to the spirit in the sky
Goin’ up to the spirit in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that’s the best

Prepare yourself you know it’s a must
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He’s gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
That’s where you’re gonna go when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You’re gonna go to the place that’s the best

Never been a sinner I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He’s gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky
Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I’m gonna go to the place that’s the best
Go to the place that’s the best

“Seeds”

“Seeds”

The Seed

The Wind will carry it.
The Earth will embrace it.
The Rain will nourish it.
The Sun will shine on it.
The Universe will support it.

All I have to do
Is get out of its way
And let go.

I believe we are all blessed with unique gifts and talents that we can offer the world. As we become more authentic, present and safe, we can share our wisdom in ways that enrich and inspire others.

Professionally, I have been a teacher, therapist, mediator and attorney. Personally, I am and have been a mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend – and a writer whose words have been safely stored in my computer.

In my commitment to speak my truth, I hope I can help you to do the same. As we learn how to become Self-led, self-accepting, self-loving, we find we have more empathy and compassion for others. Our relationships can improve as our lives become filled with peace, harmony, love and laughter.

As we each nurture our seeds of wisdom, knowledge and experience, we help someone else with our heart-centered support. And one seed at a time we can cultivate forests as we “get our egos out of the way” and let go.

What Seed can you let go of today?

Angels and Guides

We are all angels and guides for each other. The person sitting next to you or across from you may carry some message for you today.

Often the people who torment us the most are our greatest mentors. The qualities that we don’t like in others are often the traits that we have disowned in ourselves. People whom we judge as “selfish” may remind us how little we truly take care of ourselves. Ones who are “too emotional” may represent how we have stuffed our own feelings.

People that “trigger” us are helping us find the places where we need healing. They might be hitting a nerve that has been wounded since childhood. If we focus on our own feelings, rather than our judgments, we can learn how to better take care of ourselves.

What are you feeling right now?
What can you learn from someone else today?
How can you put that wisdom into action to help bring you peace?
